Let me inform You, Dear Visitor, about a new, monumental publication edited by experts of Hungarian research institutes. This collection of documents takes back the reader to an age when the Habsburgs, the Ottomans and the Principality of Transylvania were fighting on the ruins of the once wealthy Hungarian Kingdom while a new conflict was about to start in Europe which also effected the history of the next centuries: the Thirty Years' War. This new publication shows excellently how the Western and the Eastern parts of Europe connected to each other even in this period of history. Let me cite the words of an expert about the publication: "For the purpose of traditional (non-digital) publishing, the Research Centre for the Humanities at the Eötvös Loránd Research Network and the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Szeged have founded a joint book series entitled “Diplomatic Relations between Ottomans, Habsburgs and Hungarians. Documents and Studies”.
In the series, they will primarily publish collections of documents, but will occasionally also include monographs on the subject. In bringing out the first volume, I cannot but wish that this series will not suffer the same fate as the previous ones, and that it will continue to fulfil its intended role for a long time to come: to shed light on the role of the Central European region in the global history of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries." (From the Preface, written by Pál Fodor)
