In Tel Aviv General Moshe Dayan held his first press conference after being appointed as Minister of Defense. One of the purpose was, allegedly, to mislead the Egyptians by making them believe that Israel still wanted diplomatic solution. However, it seemed to show also more confidence, most probably to the Israeli people. Meir Amit, Director of the Mossad, returning to Israel from Washington, reported that the US officials didn’t object strongly to unilateral Israeli action. The UK Prime Minister Harold Wilson, after finishing his negotiations in Washington, met UN Secretary General U Thant. Talking to the press he said he and President Johnson agreed about the solution of the crisis, which should have been multilateral and should have happened through the United Nations. The UN Security Council held another meeting without any result. The two sides and their allies and supporters were practically repeating themselves and blaming the other side. From the Arab side Israel was said to be the reason of the situation, and supported the viewpoint of the United Arab Republic (Egypt). Israel blamed the situation on the Arab side, and mentioned the strong and violent propaganda.
