On the fifth emergency special session of the UN General Assembly George Brown, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the UK held a speech. He refused the accusations again about British assistance to Israel during the war. He spoke about the British viewpoint in connection with a solution of the situation, which mostly was similar to the principles announced by Lyndon B. Johnson and written in the US draft resolutions. After him Mahmoud Fawzi, Assistant President for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Republic – according to the verbatim records – spoke to the General Assembly, mentioning the accusation of American interference (USS Liberty) and Israeli atrocities during the war.

In his report to the French cabinet, President Charles de Gaulle said about the Middle East that in the actual situation of the world politics there wasn’t a chance to achieve a peaceful solution. It could happen, he continued, after the end of the Vietnam War, and by the cessation of the foreign interference.
