The United States Ambassador to the UN Arthur Goldberg submitted the US draft resolution about the solution of the Middle East conflict to the fifth emergency special session of the UN General Assembly. The draft resolution practically repeated the five principles for achieving peace in the Middle East announced by President Lyndon B. Johnson on the previous day. The General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev submitted his report “On Soviet Policy Following the Israeli Aggression in the Middle East” to the Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party. It practically repeated the Soviet viewpoint – blaming Israel and the imperialists. It also denied any Soviet responsibility for the events, they even blamed the Arab leaders not informing them about their planned steps beforehand.
