A conference of the leaders of the Communist and Workers’ parties and heads of governments of the socialist countries on the situation in the Middle East was held in Budapest, Hungary. Romania wasn’t represented, the country already had refused to break the diplomatic relations with Israel. The General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev and Alexei Nikolayevich Kosygin, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union informed the participants about the basic policy and the latest events in the region. Practically, the well-known ideas were repeated by blaming Israel and the United States, and the participants expressed their support towards the Arab countries.
