While Israel was celebrating the nineteenth anniversary of the establishment of the country, Egypt began to send troops to the Sinai. The situation between Israel Syria and Jordan was deteriorating, accusations were made on both sides, and there was growing pressure on Gamal Abdel Nasser to take the necessary measures. However, between the Egyptian and the Israeli troops there was the international contingent of UN peacekeepers since the end of 1956.
